A history of development Yagyu Shingan Ryu in Ukraine.
In Kharkiv city eventuated an international seminar led by head of Arakido school Yasushi Kajitsuka. At the seminar took part representatives from such cities: Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Lutsk, Gomel (Republic Belarus), Sochi (Russia).
From 24th May to 29th May 2016 in Lutsk city eventuated an international seminar led by head of Arakido school Yasushi Kajitsuka. It s participants were representatives from school s of Kharkiv city, Dnipro city and Kryvyi Rih town.
29th February in Kryvyi Rih town eventuated masterclass for ju-jutsu coaches of Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu and Yagyu Shinkage Ryu Hyoho schools. The training was led by 11th patriarch of the school – Yasushi Kajitsuka.
This event was organized by chief of Regional organization of jiu-jitsu of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovska region) Vladimir Skrypnyuk. Coaches from Dnipro city, Lutsk city, Kharkiv city and Gomel city (Republic Belarus) arrived to Kryvyi Rih to get the priceless lesson. It s worth to tell that sportsmen from Kryvyi Rih many years productively cooperating with the Japanese school of ju-jutsu. Yasushi Kajitsuka many times arrived to our city to share with us his own mastership. This year he planned visit Kryvyi Rih also, but some circumstances hindered to this event. The patriarch of the school led the training distantly, watched on-line at training of his students, and rectified their mistakes immediately. Yasushi Kajitsuka planning to lead next ju-jutsu lesson in Kryvyi Rih at May. Sportsmen hopes that this time the Master will have opportunity to be present at a training personally.
12th - 15th September 2015 in Dnipro city occured Yagyu Shingan Ryu and Yagyu Shinkage Ryu traditional seminar led by Yasushi Kajitsuka (the 11th patriarch).
At the aikido and ju-jutsu club of Gomel 27th-28th March 2015 took place Yagyu Shingan Ryu and Yagyu Shinkage Ryu traditional seminar led by student of the 11th patriarch Yasushi Kajitsuka – Skrypnyuk V. P. (Ukraine). During the seminar were reviewed sword's forms – Kuka and Empy-no-tachi. We all are very grateful to Vladimir Pavlovych for interesting seminar!
24th April 2015 in Dnipro city eventuated a meeting dedicated to learning of wielding a traditional Japanese sword – katana. At the meeting were represented undermentioned schools:
1. Yagyu Shingan Ryu.
2. Yagyu Shinkage Ryu.
3. Katori Shinto Ryu.
4. Method of sensei Nishio regarding aikido and iaido.
Skrypnyuk Vladimir and Polupan Konstantin were represented Yagyu Shingan Ryu school in Ukraine and Dnipropetrovska region.
From 28th June to 2th July 2014 in Kryvyi Rih town eventuated Yagyu Shingan Ryu seminar. Yagyu Shingan Ryu are a one of great bujutsu schools. Organizer of the seminar was Regional organization of jiu jitsu of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovska region), chief of the organization are Skrypnyuk Vladimir Pavlovych. Seminar was realized by led Yasushi Kajitsuki - 11th ancestral head of Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu school.
The seminar took place in Kryvyi Rih town at the hall of secondary school № 4. At the seminar were learned follow chapters of Yagyu Shingan Ryu: kenjutsu (sword wielding), jujutsu (unarmed fighting), bojutsu (pole wielding), iaijutsu (methods of drawing a sword) and hojojutsu (methods of tying by rope). We planning to eventuate a Yagyu Shingan Ryu seminar for all people who wants to learn it.
At January 2014 in Lutsk city eventuated Yagyu Shingan Ryu seminar, it was led by Skrypnyuk Vladimir Pavlovych.
At November 2013 Vladimir Skrypnyuk in Gomel city (Republic Belarus) led a open seminar regarding Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu school.
From 25th October to 5th November 2013 Vladimir Skrypnyuk visited Country of Rising sun again. It was an interesting and informative travel. Vladimir visited a few places which are a cultural heritage of Japan: Yokogama city – the most largest port town, Ise city – a great pilgrimage center, which existing since Edo period and has above all a famous Shintoistic heathen temple named Ise-jigu, a temple dedicated to goddess Amaterasu. At current year in this temple eventuated a performance dedicated to martial arts. This kind of event take place only once a 20 years. Also Vladimir participated in one more event – martial arts contest that took place in a famous place of Kamakura. During his travel in Japan, Vladimir to be able to became acquainted with interesting and prominent personalities from the world of martial arts.
23th June 2013 Vladimir Skrypnyuk led in Moscow (Russia) a first open Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu seminar.
From 1th to 6th June 2013 by Vladimir Skrypnyuk was organized a open Yagyu Shingan Ryu seminar which was led by Soke Yasushi Kajitsuka. This time the Sensei visited Ukraine with his wife Tanako-san again and gave to participants of the seminar marvelous and informative seminar under an open sky at the seaside. Everybody were able to nice training and to communicating in a warm, friendly atmosphere. All participants are very grateful to the Sensei for finding time to visit Ukraine again.
At March 2013 in Kyiv city eventuated an extensive exhibition which was dedicated not only martial arts, as it was mentioned in the title “Art of war”, but to Japanese culture in general. At 2th March 2013 we had opportunity to present to visitors of the exhibition ancient schools of Yagyu Shingan Ryu and Yagyu Shinkage Ryu.
11-13th January 2013 in Lutsk city eventuated a seminar about techniques of Yagyu Shingan Ryu and Yagyu Shinkage Ryu schools. The goal of the seminar was to prepare to summer seminar which will be eventuate in June under lead of Soke Yasushi Kajitsuka.
At September 2012 Skrypnyuk Vladimir Pavlovych together with his students visited Country of Rising sun again. According to invitation of Soke Yasushi Kajitsuka, they visited Yagyu Sato (small village in Nara prefecture) and spent there few memorable days. All this place to the core saturated with Budo spirit, thus to train there together with the masters of the school was a great honor for our fellow-citizens. The sensei was strive for transfer not only knowledge about peculiarities of different techniques but to compel our fellow-citizens to understand philosophic content each of the techniques, to cultivate a spirit of a warrior in each of his students, to foster an aspiration for self-improvement and ability to feel each one s movement not only by a body, but by a consciousness too.
After learning of the school s history, Vladimir Pavlovych together with his students visited Tokyo where the Sensei led an excursion for them, in particular, they visited the Imperial palace – the main official residence of Japanese emperors. This is one of a notable key places not only in the capital, but in Japan in general. Everybody got memorable impression during the trip.
Everyday training, spiritual education and priceless instructions of the Sensei – all this our fellow-citizens to be able to got in Japan thanks to Yasushi Kajitsuka. The Sensei together with his wife, Tanako-san, were very affable and hospitable, this wonderful family always with pleasure receiving in their place guests from Ukraine and trying to be as hospitable as possible.
From 27th to 30th September 2012 in Kryvyi Rih town eventuated an Arakido seminar. Sensei Yasushi Kajitsuka visited Ukraine with his wife Tanako-san.
The seminar was very informative and useful. This time Kajitsuka-san explained in detail each practical content of each of the techniques, showed original forms of them as it was during the wars. The Sensei was very happy for successes of participants of the seminar, he noted their progress in a improvement of the techniques and persistence with training. In his interview, that he was offered to give to a journalist of “Rudana” channel, he noted a importance of seminars that eventuating in Ukraine and also mentioned that his very pleased by interest to his school and by willingness to understand philosophy of the school and to learn it s techniques. The Sensei thinks that to help with it to participants of seminars is his duty, and thus he willing to arrive and to share his experience.
All participants are very grateful to the Sensei for the seminar and they waiting with impatience for next seminar that will be eventuate at April 2013.
13th – 15th January Vladimir Skrypnyuk led a Yagyu Shinkage Ryu seminar in Lutsk in order to teach participants new techniques and to work with already known to them techniques. Also participants of the seminar tried to combine Eastern and Ukrainian cultures by using Yagyu Shinkage Ryu technique in a training fight at the tower of the Lutsk s castle.
4th December 2011 in Kharkiv city eventuated a Yagyu Shinkage Ryu seminar led by Vladimir Skrypnyuk. Participants of the seminar worked at already known to them techniques and at a new one, which was learned by Vladimir Skrypnyuk when he visited a Soke Yasushi Kajitsuka s seminar at October 2011 in Japan.
From 6th to 15th October 2011 Vladimir Skrypnyuk, Polupan Konstantin and Romanyuk Mikhail were honored by opportunity to visit trainings (keiko) in Japan which were led by Soke of the Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu school sensei Yasushi Kajitsuka, sensei Tanino Bun ya, sensei Atsuya Terakubo and other senseis.
At everyday trainings participants were refined their mastery by execution of techniques which they learned at earlier seminars and also they learned new techniques with using bokuto (big wooden Japanese sword). Trainings took place in different dojo including yard of the one of the school s sensei where earlier Muto Masao was training – former head of the Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu school and the teacher of Yasushi Kajitsuka.
Participants got a unique opportunity to learn better a culture of mystery country of Japan. During their visit to the Country of Rising sun there eventuated the Athlete s day and Soke Yasushi Kajitsuka led demonstrative performances with his students that showed techniques of the Yagyu Shingan Ryu school, our fellow-citizens were invited to this celebration too. After the performances, learning of Japanese culture were continued: our fellow-citizens took part in a real tea ceremony, they were witnesses of traditional making of Japanese national beverage. All participants were satisfied by efficient trainings, interesting acquaintance with Japanese culture and they are endlessly grateful to Yasushi Kajitsuka and his students for affability and hospitality.
From 29th April to 3th May in Kryvyi Rih town eventuated a seminar led by Yasushi Kajitsuka – the Soke of Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu school. The seminar was very pithy. Every technique was demonstrated by the Soke in a full spread form with explanation in detail about all phases of its modification from ancient times (working with armors) to modern times. Most attention was spared to the yawara technique, by learning this technique students had opportunity to know not only technical specialties of this chapter of the school but to know historical phases of development of the school.
Also were reviewed techniques of wielding a fukuroshinai and bo. Yasushi Kajitsuka explained in detail the new kata from chapter about wielding a bo, “ura bo”, and specialties of wielding a fukuroshinai in the Yagyu Shinkage Ryu Heiho.
In the seminar took part, except residents of Kryvyi Rih, residents of Dnipro, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Sochi cities. All participants are very grateful to Sensei Yasushi Kajitsuka for this meaningful, interesting and informative seminar.
26th - 29th November 2010 according to initiative of the president of Regional organization of jiu-jitsu of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovska region) Vladimir Skrypnyuk in Kryvyi Rih town and in Kropyvnytskyi city were eventuated a seminar about one of ancient styles of Japanese ju jutsu. Shihan Tanino Bun ya led the seminar. It was the first seminar about Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu in Ukraine.
It s participants were representatives from Ukraine and Russia. During the seminar were examined techniques of Yagyu Shingan Ryu (basic techniques from bojutsu and yawara chapters) and techniques of Yagyu Shinkage Ryu (kenjutsu chapter – techniques of wielding a fukuroshinai).
All participants are very grateful to Shihan Tanino for meticulously and technical teaching.

February 2010. According to invitation of Soke of Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu – Yasushi Kajitsuka, Skrypnyuk V. P. and few of his young students traveled to Japan. The goal of the travel was to learn new techniques of the ancient school and more meticulously acquaintance with culture and history of Budo.
During a week was planned a tight training schedule at Hayama keiko, Kagurazaka keiko, Sakae keiko, Gumoji keiko, Maita keiko, Akagi keiko. Soke Kajitsuka sparing a special attention to cognition of Budo s spirit, learning of each technique through the prism of the centuries-old, cultural, spiritual and martial experience of many generation of masters of the school. Also were visited such historical places as Kashima shrine and Katori shrine which are not only Japan national treasure but embodying in itself a spirit of warrior-ancestors of each of Japanese. They are most important sacred places for any school of martial arts in Japan. Famous Tsukahara Bokuden learned an art of sword wielding in one of this shrines.
